I just flew from Detroit, Michigan to Calgary, Alberta today and I had the most delightful flight attendant in First Class (one of the benefits of my thousands of miles in the air). Her name was Vivia (no “n”) and she created a wonderful experience for all of us in First Class.
First, she had the list of everyone who was seated in First Class and when she came to us she addressed us by name. “Ms. Phelps, what would you like to drink?” Now, I’ve been seated in First Class often and I will tell you that probably only once of every 10 flights (that’s being generous) does the flight attendant address us by name.
Throughout the entire flight she would ask, “Is there anything else I can do for you Ms. Phelps? Are you sure you have everything you need?” She continued to use each passengers name (there were 16 of us in all) even after she did not have her list with her.
But, it was when we were about to land that she came to each of us individually and thanked us for flying Northwest and she was glad we were on her flight today!
Let me ask you a question. Do you take time to learn the names of the guests who attend your parties. Are you using their name to draw them into the presentation and do you help create a personal experience that makes your guests say, “Wow, that consultant is so good, you have to buy from (or book from) her?”
People love to hear their name used and when you are trying to get their money and or their time for a party the more you take time to learn and use their names the better your conversion ratio will be.
Take a lesson from Vivia! She was exceptional. By the way, I will be sending Northwest a letter to let them know how exceptional she was. I will even send them to this post!

I love being a “gamma” as 2-year old Nickolas calls me. It’s so great that I even take time from my very busy schedule to watch Nickolas and his 3 month old brother Ryan once or twice a week. Well meaning family and friends have often commented that I’m too busy to watch the kids. My reply, “I’m too busy NOT TO!”
I’m sure a lot of you are just like me and sometimes you just HAVE TO TAKE THE TIME for things that are important. For me, it just doesn’t get any better than having your grandson run to you with open arms saying, “Hi, gamma!” That’s as good as it gets.
Take time to enjoy all the little things before it’s too late! I DO!

First of all I would like to thank the wonderful people who responded with donations for my friend in need. I know Linda will really appreciate that although you do not know her you were willing to help. Secondly, for those that were offended, “I’m sorry.”
Wow, I sure did not expect the reaction I had from people about the previous post where I was trying to help a friend in need.
I had some people send me “not nice” e-mails about the way I went about it and were concerned that I was going to profit from it while others were very appreciative that I was doing something to help a friend in need. Last October we also sent a donation for each set sold to the “National Breast Cancer Foundation” for “National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”
So, I will continue to offer my products for sale, (they have helped thousands of people realize more success in their business) and I will continue to send money to help those who are less fortunate (it’s what I believe in.)
What was your perspective? Let’s think about this. Does your company offer the opportunity to hold fund-raisers? If they do, do you give up all of your commission? How absurd! Of course not. You will benefit and the organization that is holding the fundraiser will also benefit.
Do you avoid doing something that could increase your business because someone might be offended? If so, you could be dramatically effecting your chances for success.

How can you help Linda, a 46 year old divorced mother of 4 boys, (2 of them still in Middle School) who is battling stage 4 lung cancer?
With Mother’s Day right around the corner I want to do something special as a tribute to my mother who passed away last November. Because my mom battled heart disease for almost 20 years, my intention was to donate $10 for every “Ultimate Success Bundle” or “Whole Enchilada” sold to the American Heart Association.
Then I discovered that my good friend Linda’s cancer was back, this time in her liver. Linda was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer almost 4 years ago and her determination to live, along with great medical care, and lots of prayers have miraculously kept her beating the odds. Since her diagnosis Linda has never stopped working, except for a few days here and there when the chemo got the best of her.
This time the dosages are so large and she has been so ill and weak her doctors do not want her to continue working. Friends and family are concerned that she will needlessly worry about the mounting bills that will not get paid. Cancer patients can’t be allowed to worry. They need all the strength they can muster to battle the disease and the effects of chemo! Child support payments are late or non-existent as her ex-husband filed personal bankruptcy because of his struggling construction business and petitioned the courts to lower the child-support (which didn’t happen.)
My mother was one of the greatest philanthropists I ever knew. A philanthropist is someone who has general love for, or benevolence toward, the whole of humankind. Even though our large family of 9 did not have much money while we were growing up my mom NEVER turned down a friend in need!
My mom loved Linda as all of us do and we have all tried to help as much as we can throughout these past years. I know mom will be pleased with my decision to give Linda the donations this year.
For every ”Ultimate Success Bundle” sold during the month of May I will donate $10 to be sent to help Linda and her boys pay the monthly expenses. For every “Whole Enchilada” sold during the month of May I will donate $20!
Your purchase will not only help you to grow your Direct Selling business (so you can help others when they need it) but you will be helping release Linda from the worries of what will happen while she’s not working!
Who says we can’t make a difference! I know we can!

How’s your booking calendar? How many parties do you want to hold per week?
If you want to hold 2 parties per week do you have 2 this week, 2 next week, 2 three weeks from now and 2 four weeks from now? This would be your “full booking lineup.”
I always coached my team members to get as many parties as they wanted to hold per week for at least 4 weeks in a row. Once you get your calendar booked solid for four weeks and keep it that way you will have developed a consistency in your Direct Selling business.
Summer is soon approaching and you need to kick it into high gear right now to keep a consistent summer schedule. Go ahead and pick up the phone now to make your calls. Your summer schedule depends on it.
